My favorite part of tutoring is watching students start to master whatever was baffling or troubling them in a subject while also having fun. I adapt my tutoring style to fit each student and his or her interests and abilities. One recent example of this was when I was working with a first grader who was showing an interest in Shakespeare: At first, we watched a video performance and read along in the book, but I soon realized that what he really wanted to do was to play it out like the actors he was watching, so we got up and started acting out the scene we'd been viewing. He learned a lot, and we both had fun with it. I think this example illustrates pretty well my philosophy of tutoring.
