Emily G.
Private tutor in Ann Arbor, MI
Education
I am a lecturer at the University of Michigan in the Computer Science department, having graduated from there with Master's degrees in both Computer Science and Math. Though I only teach in the Computer Science department, I have regularly tutored students in both math and computer science at all levels from high school up to 400 level college classes.
Experience
I have been tutoring unofficially all my life and officially ever since my dad (high school math teacher) started pointing students in my direction in 2010. I regularly teach large lecture sections, but I particularly like smaller groups, so I still love to tutor students when I get the chance. My most impressive mathematical feats are my competition scores. In high school, I qualified twice for the USAMO, and in undergrad, I scored a 41 on the Putnam. In addition to pretty much any math or computer science course, I feel qualified to tutor in low-level electrical engineering courses like DC or AC circuits or any general physics.

Hobbies
Other than academics, I enjoy singing and games of any kind. I regularly sing with a local Sweet Adelines chorus (women's barbershop), Voices in Harmony, and am proud to be able to overtone sing. I organize the CSE graduates weekly board games night (think Settlers of Catan or Dominion), know dozens of card games, and frequently play video games with my guild. I use "they" pronouns, by the way. This site doesn't allow anything but "male" and "female", but I'd like to include this information here.
