Experience

- (2010-2013) was a chemistry teaching assistant for general chemistry - I've been tutoring privately and remotely (students in North Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio) since 2010 on subjects ranging from general chemistry, analytical chem, biology/biochem, MCAT prep, medicine blocks (for med students), USMLE prep (for med students). - I also tutor personal essay writing. I have won a national essay contest (reconnecting the circle) and placed 6th in the Kaplan Newsweek 2009 national essay contest. - I enjoy helping students motivated to truly learn the material as that leads them toward achieving real and practical goals. It's also a wonderful feeling to actually understand concepts and that takes a learner a lot farther than just acing the next exam. I'm appreciative of the good teachers I've had along the way, so it's rewarding for me to try to do the same.

Hobbies

I enjoy tennis (grew up playing USTA), soccer, and skiing! I also enjoy music, creating art (particularly sketching portraits), and being outdoors in nature. I love to travel, learn new languages, and to learn about new cultures. A lot of skills required for success in planning a career in medicine require practice and repetition, with writing and verbal interpersonal communication being critical.
