Experience

SAT Math 800 SAT 2 Math 800 AP Calculus BC 5 AP Macroeconomics 5 Nationality: S. Korea Currently I am a student at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Applied Statistics Degree. I am graduating in May 2013. My first experience as a tutor started while I was in high school. As a "shadow teacher", I taught fellow students in calculus, physics, chemistry, and economics. Since I was also a student, I knew what the problem was in understanding the basic concept in each of these subjects. With this in mind, I helped them learn by themselves and not just throw out loads of information at them because it was the only effective method of teaching I thought. I truly enjoyed the pleasure of teaching. Thus, I continued to tutor TOEFL to a Korean student, teach English and Maths at the Youngdo institute, and teach economics to current University of Michigan freshmen and sophomore athletes. Specifically, I will start by helping them master the basic concepts and principles and learn how to discover these whenever a new concept pops up in the textbook or the exam. Problem-solving skill is just a next step that is eventually achieved without difficulty. My goal is to embrace the confidence in the students' minds that they can tackle any type of questions. I am looking forward to participate in the true joy of learning and teaching.
