Experience
As a tutor, I try to emulate all of the best qualities of my own mentors, with the specific goal of accessing a student's maximum academic potential. In lieu of memorization, I teach strategies that facilitate conceptual rather than factual learning. This way, the knowledge stays with you forever! I always tailor each lesson to the specific subject and needs of the student. My tutoring mission has been shaped by a very diverse academic background. After receiving an Honors B.S. in Chemistry and Chemical Biology in 2010, I worked as a mechanical engineer at a start-up company in Seattle. I couldn't stay out of academics for long, because after two years, I started a PhD program at the University of Michigan. For the last four years, I've taught several 100, 200, 400, and 600-level chemistry courses, successfully tutored students in each class, mentored high school students, undergraduates, and graduate students, published >10 academic papers, and earned a 4.0 GPA. For this work, I've received a host of research fellowships and awards including the NSF S-STEM award, the Sokol Fellowship, a Centennial Fellowship. a Pre-doctoral Award, and the Rackham Merit Fellowship. My main focus is AP, ACT, SAT II, GRE (general and chemistry subject) as well as high school level science/math and undergraduate chemistry courses of any level. Relevant scores: ACT (many years ago): 33 GRE: 600 Verb/760 Quant GRE Chem: 800
