Education
As valedictorian of my high school class, I was accepted to the University of Michigan and Harvard; choose Harvard and graduated with a B.A. in European Intellectual History. I also completed a fifth year at Harvard as a special student taking science courses and worked as a teaching fellow in an optics lab course which was part of the summer school physics course. I was employed in the optics industry in Rochester N.Y. where I worked in the laser and holography fields, and transitioned to computers and IT, where I successfully designed and installed custom business applications for a host of industries. Additional work involved technical writing, including instruction manuals and installation training and support of business software applications. My work in tutoring began when I started Coach K's Math Camp, a summer program to help elementary school age children meet the new MEAP requirements in Michigan. Tutoring progressed to include high school students with their diverse needs after the passage of the new Michigan graduation requirements.
Experience
I'm very experienced as a tutor who has helped students in the Bloomfield Hills and Ann Arbor school districts, as well as Washtenaw Community College. Whether the need is remedial, enrichment or consultation, my approach is to develop the best course of study for the student to meet their educational goals. I'm also very familiar with online instruction, in particular tutoring with the Aleks math program offered in the Ann Arbor Public Schools. These courses can satisfy all math requirements and provide students course flexibility by taking them in summer school or in the regular school year.
